Fernando Azcoytia Painter, portrait and
illustration artist and graphic designer was born in
Montevideo, Uruguay in 1959. At a very young age his
vocation and talent for graphic expression were evident. As
a teenager, he went through Technical Drawing courses and
afterwards worked as an Architect's assistant. The
discipline and skill he acquired through technical drawing
in addition to the freedom that stems from his innate talent
as an artist placed him in an excellent position to
adventure into the fields of painting and graphic
advertising. With admirable equilibrium, he blends creative
originality and technical rigor. Like most artists, he's had
periods of intense production with gaps of inactivity and
silence dedicated to introspection and reflection. He has
drawn audacious and innovative lines and at the same time
followed more conventional paths. Nevertheless, in his work
beats and pulses the energy of an authentic creator that
under no means takes the easy way to things, on the
contrary, he's never resigned to his esthetic principles.

About his
work, by Uruguayan artist Osman Astesiano: A work of art
has definitively concluded when it comes together with the
perception of every observer and the meaning that the artist
tries to convey. Their susceptibility is key in achieving a
magic and indispensable dialogue. With a subtle and spatial
proposal of dreamlike poetics, Azcoytia allows us to conjure
and adapt in our minds our own mental landscapes and images.
The solid tones and polished lines of his work consolidates
this pictorical result.

About his work, by
Uruguayan artist Osman Astesiano: An intellectual and
sensitive way exist, that when it journeys in the representation
of the reality by the experience, interpretation and feelings,
of an only representative of our race, is transformed into an
artistic fact. To manage by means of the drawing and of the
color to represent the visual reality through that difficult way
is profit of few. I see Mabel Pacheco walking in the right
direction.

About his work, by
Uruguayan artist Clever Lara: Most of these paintings topics
are human faces fragments belonging to celebrities'
representatives from the painting and the literature world. The
choice is at random, but it intends to integrate both national
and foreign artists. Thus, men and women from different times
and places; parade as if coming out from close 'framings '.
When Laura Spera
paints, she travels along face traces of time, using wide brush
strokes. Neither her shaping, nor her color have a predominant
descriptive intention. It seems to be more a game of graph isms
and colors, which refers to fragments of reality. The
photograph, source of these images, imposed since its
appearance, those first close-ups, dramatically cut out. It is
understandable that the painter saves for herself, those close
visions, so that she can build from there, these huge
micro-worlds. "
